Performing
Arts
![]() The performing arts are alive and well in the Miami Beach area, with its numerous terrific local venues and performance groups for you to enjoy. The
Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is a spectacular
entertainment facility to take in a variety of wonderful
performances. The
Center is comprised of three venues: The 2,400-seat Ziff Ballet Opera
House, 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall, and 250-seat Carnival Studio
Theatre. There is practically something going on every night at the
Arsht Center, and here is where you can find a day-to-day list of their
live performances. Entertaining Off Broadway shows can be seen via the GableStage at the Biltmore, Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, and University of Miami's Jerry Herman Ring Theatre, all in Coral Gables. In Miami, there's the City Theatre and Edge Theatre. In Little Havana, check out the always engaging Latin-based performances of Teatro Avante and the featured foreign films (mostly Spanish spoken with English subtitles) shown at the Tower Theater on the grounds of Miami Dade College. Care to be awed by a fine classical presentation? Then we encourage you to treat yourself to a performance by the area's very own Miami Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, South Beach Chamber Ensemble and Florida Grand Opera. Ballet aficionados can treat themselves to a gratifying night watching the Miami City Ballet in action. The area's colleges and universities also offer performances via their living arts departments that are well worth attending. Miami Dade College's New World Dance Theatre and the University of Miami's Frost School of Music showcase their talented students throughout each semester. The Sunshine Jazz Organization hosts workshops, performances, and monthly jam sessions as ways to raise awareness and promote jazz music in the community. Annual
events that we suggest attending include the Miami
International
Piano Festival and Spiegelworld, a traveling, offbeat Cirque Du
Soleil event held at Collins Park. If
you're
looking for more of a pop culture performance in a massive arena-type
setting, you can't go wrong with either the Bank
Atlantic Center in
Sunrise or the American
Airlines Arena in Miami.
